چکیده

Some variational models have been recently introduced to the aim of modeling ramified structures, such as trees, rivers and so on. We introduce a general scheme in which the notion of transport distance is introduced starting from a general transport cost functional, through relaxation arguments. Then we apply this general framework to the irrigation cost, which is a particular cost functional depending on a parameter α ∈]0, 1[. We discuss the equivalence between this abstract approach and the above models.

Calculation of Optimum Dimensions and Array of Submerged Vanes at Intakes Using the Feasible Direction Method

In recent years, installation of plates in canal beds have been considered for sedimentation control and bed load reduction at canal intake. These planes, called submerged vanes, are different in dimensions. They are installed at intakes in-group with reasonable distance from each other. Presence of these vanes at intakes initiate transverse shear stress on river bed and causes sediment transpo...

Logistics and pretreatment of forest biomass

In large regions of the world, biomass is a very important source of energy. The global bioenergy market based on forest biomass is growing rapidly. About 92 % of the bioenergy in Sweden comes from forests. Biomass from forests is not homogenous. The locations, transport distances, and transport methods, can differ very much and the industries that need biomass as input prefer raw materials wit...

Effect of Time and Amount of Supplemental Irrigation at Different Distances from Tree Trunks on Quantity and Quality of Rain-fed Fig Production

Supplemental irrigation under prolonged drought conditions has a key role in providing water for transpiration of rain-fed fig trees. The effect of different times and amounts of supplemental irrigation at different distances from the tree trunk on quantity and quality of Estahban rain-fed fig production was evaluated during two years. A randomized complete block design with four replications o...

برآورد هم‌زمان پارامترهای هیدرولیکی و انتقال املاح در خاک به روش حل معکوس در مقیاس مزرعه

Estimation of unsaturated soil hydraulic and solute transport properties by Inverse modeling has thus far been limited mostly to analyses of one-dimensional experiments in the laboratory, often assuming steady-state conditions. This is partly because of the high cost and difficulties in accurately measuring and collecting adequate field-scale data sets, and partly because of difficulties in des...
